Executive Management at Bank of Georgia

Archil Gachechiladze

Executive director and CEO of Lion Finance Group PLC and CEO of Bank of Georgia

Prior to his recent appointment, Archil served as CEO of Georgian Global Utilities (formerly part of BGEO Group PLC) between 2017-2019.

With more than 20 years in financial services, Archil held various senior and executive roles in Georgia as well as abroad. Having spent some time with Lehman Brothers Private Equity, he returned to Georgia and joined Bank of Georgia as Deputy CEO, Corporate Banking in 2009. Since then, at BGEO Group PLC, he held positions of Deputy CEO, Deputy CEO for Corporate and Investment Banking, Investment Manager, and CFO of the Group. Mr. Gachechiladze also worked at various organisations, including Salford Equity Partners, EBRD, and KPMG Barents.

Mr. Gachechiladze holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Tbilisi State University and an MBA with distinction from Cornell University. He is also a CFA charterholder and a member of the CFA society in the United Kingdom.

Sulkhan Gvalia

Deputy CEO, Chief Financial Officer

Sulkhan has extensive experience in banking, having served in various senior roles at Bank of Georgia, including Deputy CEO – Chief Risk Officer (2005-2013) and Deputy CEO – Head of Corporate Banking (2013-2016). Prior to his recent appointment, Sulkhan was the founder and CEO of E-Space Limited – the only Georgian company developing electric car charging infrastructure in Georgia. Sulkhan started his career in banking at TbilUniversalBank and served as its Deputy CEO before its acquisition by Bank of Georgia in November 2004.

Sulkhan holds a bachelor’s degree in Law from Tbilisi State University.

David Chkonia

Deputy CEO, Chief Risk Officer

Prior to his current role, David served as a senior advisor and Director of International Business at Bank of Georgia during 2021-2022. Before joining the Bank, he held senior positions in local and international organisations. He was Deputy CEO/Chief Risk Officer at TBC Bank during 2017-2020. Prior to that, David was a Director at BlackRock in London, where he advised financial institutions and regulators on risk management, balance sheet strategy and regulation. He also served as a Senior Vice President at PIMCO, where he was responsible for the risk advisory practice. During 2009-2011, David Chkonia worked at European Resolution Capital.

David holds an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a bachelor’s degree in Finance from San Jose State University.

David Davitashvili

Deputy CEO, Data and Information Technology

David joined Bank of Georgia in 2006 and served in various senior roles. As Deputy Chief Operating Officer, he was responsible for collections, cash operations, procurement, and information security. Between 2009 and 2019, David was the Head of Internal Audit, where he was covering both banking and non-banking subsidiaries.

David holds an Executive MBA from Bayes Business School and a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in Management and Microeconomics from Tbilisi State University.

Eter (Etuna) Iremadze

Deputy CEO, Premium Banking

Etuna was appointed Head of SOLO in May 2019 and became Deputy CEO in March 2021. She has been leading SOLO and WM businesses since April 2021.

Etuna joined Bank of Georgia early in her career, in 2006. Having started in Corporate Banking, she has since occupied various roles, including senior positions. During 2009-2016, she was Head of Blue Chip Corporate Banking Unit, responsible for structured lending, M&A, significant buyouts and project financing.

Prior to her recent appointment, Etuna spent two years as Head of Strategic Projects Department at Georgian Global Utilities (formerly part of BGEO Group PLC).

Etuna holds an MBA from Grenoble Business School and a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Commerce from Tbilisi State University.

Zurab Kokosadze

Deputy CEO, Corporate and Investment Banking

Zurab became Head of Corporate Banking in June 2020 and Deputy CEO in March 2021, leading Corporate and Investment Banking directions.

Zurab joined Bank of Georgia in 2003 as a Junior Corporate Banker and has progressed through various positions, being in senior roles prior to his recent appointment. He served as Head of Corporate Banking, under Deputy CEO, during 2017-2020.

Zurab holds an MBA from Grenoble Graduate School of Business and a bachelor’s in Business Administration from Caucasus School of Business.

Mikheil Gomarteli

Deputy CEO, Strategic Projects Direction

Mikheil was appointed as Deputy CEO, Strategic Projects Direction of JSC Bank of Georgia in September 2022.

Prior to this appointment, Mikheil was Deputy CEO, leading the Bank’s Retail Banking business since 2009. He joined Bank of Georgia in 1997 and served in various senior and executive roles. Throughout his time with the Bank, Mikheil has been instrumental to Retail Banking and digital transformations, being behind many key initiatives.

Mikheil holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Tbilisi State University.

Levan Gomshiashvili

Deputy CEO (subject to regulatory approval), Chief Marketing, Digital and Customer Experience Officer

Levan has extensive experience in marketing, having worked in different roles, including those of creative manager and chief marketing officer in international and local companies. Before joining the Bank, Levan was the founder of HOLMES & WATSON, a creative agency, where he served as an Account Manager for clients operating in different sectors. Levan is also the founder of Tbilisi School of Communication, an educational facility focused on executive education.

Levan holds a master’s degree in Management from the University of Edinburgh and a bachelor’s degree in Management from Saint Petersburg State University of Economics and Finance.

Ana Kostava

Deputy CEO (subject to regulatory approval), Chief Legal Officer

Ana became a direct report to the CEO in October 2021. She joined the Bank of Georgia in April 2018 as Senior Group Lawyer (2018-2020). Prior to that, between 2015 and 2018, Ana was an Associate at Dechert LLP. Ana has experience working at the World Trade Organization Appellate Body Secretariat and the European Court of Human Rights. She started her career in law as Associate at Legal Partners Associated LLC in 2010. Since 2015, Ana has been an Associate Lecturer at Free University of Tbilisi.

Ana holds an LLM from University of Cambridge and an LLB from Caucasus University, Caucasus School of Law. She also holds a Harvard Law School Executive Education Certificate of Leadership in Corporate Counsel.

Giorgi Gureshidze

Head of Mass Retail

Giorgi was appointed Head of Mass Retail in March 2025. Before taking on this role, he served as Head of Operations (2023-2025). Earlier in his career, between 2017 and 2023, he gained diverse professional experience at Georgia Global Utilities (GGU – formerly part of BGEO Group PLC), where he held various positions, including those of an Investment Analyst, a Head of Financial Analysis and Research, and a Head of Strategic Projects and Business Development, before serving as CFO of the company during 2020-2023. In this role, Giorgi oversaw key processes, including capital allocation decisions, budgeting, financial reporting and tax compliance, funding and liquidity management, procurement and logistics, IT and digitalisation. He played an instrumental role in the first Green Eurobond issuance from the region on the Irish stock exchange in 2020 and in the sale of GGU, the largest private transaction in Georgia. Giorgi started his career working as an Auditor at Deloitte and also worked as an Investor Relations Manager at TBC Bank.

Giorgi holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Global Affairs from Yale University.

Tornike Kuprashvili

Head of SME Business

Tornike joined Bank of Georgia in 2014 as a Principal Corporate Banker and during his 10 year career he has progressed through the career path within Corporate Banking business. He held various senior roles in Corporate Banking Business, including Head of Corporate Rehabilitation and Head of Corporate Banking Department, directly reporting to Deputy CEO during 2020-2024. Prior to joining Bank of Georgia, Tornike worked at KPMG Tbilisi office for 3 years as an Audit assistant.

Tornike holds bachelor of Business Administration from Caucasus School of Business.

Elene Okromchedlishvili

Head of Human Capital Management

Prior to her recent appointment, Elene served as Head of Business Processes, Lean Transformation and Transactions.

She joined the Bank in 2017 and held various positions, including Head of IFRS Reporting Unit responsible for the Bank’s stand-alone financial statements and those of its subsidiaries, and Head of Operational Efficiency and Cost management Unit.

Before joining the Bank, Elene worked at EY, progressing to the position of senior auditor.

Elene holds an MBA from IE Business School and a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Free University Tbilisi.

Zurab Alpaidze

Head of Operations

Zurab was appointed as Head of Operations in March 2025. Zurab joined Bank of Georgia in February 2024 as Deputy COO, in charge of Infrastructure and Operations Support. Before joining Bank of Georgia, Zurab held various executive positions at Georgian Water and Power (GWP) during 2015 – 2024, including Chief Technical Officer and Deputy Chief Operating Officer. In these roles, Zurab was responsible for production, distribution, dispatching, design, engineering, construction, automation and digitalization processes. Zurab also played a key role in the planning and execution of significant energy saving/efficiency projects while at GWP. In 2011 Zurab began his career at Ernst & Young in their audit practice.

Zurab holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Caucasus University, Caucasus School of Business.

Artak Hanesyan

CEO, Chairman of the Management Board

A distinguished banker with more than 30 years of experience in the banking system of Armenia. Has been the CEO of Ameriabank since 2008. Before that. Mr. Hanesyan held key positions in the banking sector of Armenia, including positions of CEO and deputy CEO.

Hovhannes Toroyan

Chief Financial Officer

Around 20 years of experience in banking system of Armenia, including more than 10 years with Ameriabank, being responsible for strategy, research, assets and liabilities management. He became the CFO of Ameriabank in Q3 2022.

Armine Ghazaryan

Chief People and Services Officer

With more than 20 years of experience in the banking sector of Armenia, Mrs. Ghazaryan specialises in human resources management (HRM). She had been heading Ameriabank’s HRM unit since 2008, prior to becoming CPSO in 2019.

Gagik Sahakyan

Corporate and Investment Banking Director

More than 25 years of experience in commercial banking and business advisory. Having started his career in advisory business, he later moved to corporate banking and has been leading the business line since 2010.

Andranik Barseghyan

Risk Management Director

Around 30 years of experience in financial institutions’ risk management and automation technologies. Mr. Barseghyan has been heading Ameriabank’s Risk Management Center since 2009.

Arman Barseghyan

Retail Banking Director

A proven career track of more than 25 years in retail banking, of which around 15 years at HSBC bank Armenia. Mr. Barseghyan joined Ameriabank as Retail Banking Director in 2012.
